I am a 22-year-old artist and writer who is about to graduate with a BA in studio art from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. I was born in Austin but my family moved to Buda when I was nine, then to Ames, Iowa when I was twenty-one. I plan on getting my MFA and teaching to cover tuition at Iowa State University starting this fall.
My current specialty in art is painting colorful and expressive portraits and interior scenes in oil.
Favorite doodle subjects include wizards, skateboarders, birds on telephone wires, and Spock. I also love to draw my dreams, and I am interested in illustrating more books.
My writing has generally focused on mental health, trauma, and hope. I dropped out of high school because of a depressive episode and ended up writing and illustrating a book about recovery, which has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my life.
Ultimately, I think the purpose of art is to make us all feel a little less alone.
