I did a lot of press after I released Advice I Ignored in 2019 and early 2020, but I kind of forgot about the book and let it all get buried after the pandemic-lockdown-quarantine years started. I didn’t want to think about how happy I’d been when I was 17 and I could still hug my friends.
At one point I even started joking to myself, “I’m giving up on getting better. I’ve decided to get worse.” And I did – because recovery isn’t a one-and-done process. I have to keep trying or I can really backslide. But I forgive myself for that; quarantine was hard and I was just trying to survive.
Anyway, here is some of that press. I’m trying to sift through the internet and find more of it, so stay tuned.

This Four-Star Review in Reading for Sanity Book Reviews by Mindy Sue. October 14th, 2020. (This one is really flattering overall, so thank you Mindy! But I can’t help feeling unsettled when people mention my queer identity alongside the legitimate content warnings for sexual trauma and self harm. It must be said: the so-called “inappropriate” homosexual content of this book is limited to one chaste, consensual kiss between two 12-year-old girls at a birthday party.)
